The Women's Federation of Ningxia Women's Association for Science and Technology was established on September 20 in Yinchuan, capital of Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The association's first women's congress was held the same day, and 15 people were elected members of the federation's first executive committee.
Luo Chuntao was elected the federation's president. She vowed to lead the executive members in satisfying women scientific and technological workers' needs.
The federation will highlight organizational development, promote scientific and technological innovation, and protect women's rights and interests. It will also promote exchanges and cooperation among women scientific and technological workers, she added.
Ningxia Women's Federation vows to deepen its reform, which will include promoting establishment of women's federations within new economic and social organizations, and within new employment groups.
