Xihe County, in Northwest China's Gansu Province, implemented an HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccination program, for school-aged girls, in May 2025. The program helped raise both awareness of cervical cancer and HPV vaccination rates among girls.
Xihe Women's Federation collaborated with the county's education and health departments to promote the program, through online and offline initiatives, and to increase public awareness and willingness to vaccinate.
The organizers helped popularize HPV-vaccine information by organizing parent meetings and distributing informational pamphlets.
Vaccination sites followed strict protocols, including pre-screening, registration, vaccination and post-vaccination observation. Girls, accompanied by their guardians, signed informed-consent forms, and medical staff ensured safe and standardized vaccination procedures.
The federation pledges to enhance publicity on HPV-vaccination policies and prevention of cervical cancer, through more innovative methods. The goal is to ensure full vaccination coverage for all eligible girls in the county, and to safeguard their healthy growth.
