Thirty-seven women college students, and six teachers, from China Women's University (CWU) recently participated in a 10-day, volunteer-teaching activity in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. More than 200 primary and middle school students, in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture and Kashgar Prefecture, benefited from the activity.
The university signed a cooperation agreement with Xinjiang Women's Federation in February 2023. The university has since organized activities involving guidance in ideology and family education, and it has provided assistance to Xinjiang residents coping with difficulties.
Wang Shaojie, a sports teacher, conducted a soccer class at Changji No. 3 Middle School. He taught physical-training routines and soccer skills and tactics to help the children improve their skills. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies were used during the soccer classes.
The volunteers also conducted lessons in standard spoken and written Chinese at a school in Kashgar. They created songs to help students remember new words and phrases, and they taught the students how to use the new sentences they learned through dialogue and role play. One girl said after a class, "I want to study broadcasting in Beijing, like my teachers, and become a broadcaster in the future."
