Known as "China's hometown of vegetables," Shouguang, a city in East China's Shandong Province, boasts advanced vegetable-growing philosophies and technologies.
Since 2021, the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) has helped promote cooperation in agricultural development between Shouguang and Zhangxian, a county in Northwest China's Gansu Province. The initiative is seen as a new path to rural revitalization.
The ACWF and women's federations at the provincial, city and county levels in Gansu and Shandong have helped build platforms, which have introduced Shouguang's agricultural talents, technologies and production-management methods to Zhangxian.
The modern agricultural industrial park (established in 2021) in Zhangxian has the capacity to produce 9,500 tons of vegetables annually. The output value is roughly 34 million yuan (US $4.86 million). More than 300 women have received training in advanced vegetable-planting technologies in the park. More than 200 households operate their own greenhouses.
The ACWF has also helped promote industrial upgrading in Zhangxian, especially in terms of seedling research and development, large-scale planting, cold-chain storage and agriculture-tourism integration.
