The "Happiness Connection, Love in Guangxi" national rural matchmaking demonstration event was held in Equan, a village in Baise, a city in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on April 11. The event attracted 200 single people from across Guangxi.
The event, under the guidance of the Department of Family and Children's Affairs of the All-China Women's Federation, the Department of Rural Social Services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Department of Social Affairs of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, was hosted by Guangxi Women's Federation and some of the autonomous region government's departments.
The event, which focused on the needs of young people, provided a high-quality platform for social gathering and matchmaking, in the countryside, and it helped cultivate a new culture of marriage and childbearing and advance rural revitalization.
The event kicked off with a bamboo dance welcoming session, and it was followed by a unique antiphonal singing competition.
Representatives of the "Most Beautiful" families, and some matchmaking volunteers, sent a video message, in which they sent blessings to participants. During the matchmaking session, the 200 young guests were divided into 20 groups to participate in various games. Thirteen couples eventually paired up.
Since 2024, when the initiative was launched, women's federations, at all levels in Guangxi, have organized 552 events, involving 52,853 young people, in the autonomous region. The events have helped arrange 1,101 successful matches.
Officials in Guangxi plan to continue strengthening its "Happiness Connection" marriage service brand, organizing more diverse social activities across the region, and helping young people find love and build happy families.
