Liu Yuanyuan is a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body. She is also a soprano with China Ethnic Song and Dance Ensemble. During this year's two sessions, Liu stated, during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), literary and artistic workers should take root at the grassroots level, serve the people and promote core socialist values, through excellent literary and artistic works that people enjoy.
The Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development call for promoting new forms of literature and art for the general public in the Internet age. Liu said, "With the vigorous development of new forms of literature and art for the general public, nowadays more and more young people are passionate about creating literary and artistic works that highlight the theme of the new era." Liu believes the vitality of the entire nation for cultural creation and innovation will be further unleashed to meet people's ever-growing intellectual and cultural needs.
Liu suggested leveraging new quality productive forces in the cultural sector to promote the deep integration of ethnic cultures, traditional opera and folk music with modern pop music and their innovation. This involves integrating endangered ethnic melodies, musical symbols and cultural elements into contemporary songwriting.
Liu also suggested using new technologies, like artificial intelligence, to preserve traditional culture. She emphasized the need to promote traditional culture in ways that appeal to young people, and to guide the public to understand the essence of ethnic cultures, achieve dynamic preservation and sustainable inheritance of ethnic cultures, and promote exchanges and interactions among all ethnic groups.
The goal is to produce more high-quality artistic works for the new era, especially works that are down-to-earth, widely appreciated, influential and enduring, thereby enhancing people's cultural identity through art, and uniting people of all ethnic groups to strive together with one heart and one mind, said Liu.
