Regulation Protects Rights, Interests of Women in Anhui

 2025-02-12

The revised Regulation of Anhui Province on Implementing the Law on the Protection of Rights and Interests of Women took effect on January 1.

The regulation encourages new types of economic and social organizations and new employment groups to establish women's federations. When local authorities formulate or amend regulations and/or normative documents involving women's rights and interests, the authorities should listen to the opinions of the women's federations.

If women's federations think the regulations and/or documents violate the Constitution of the People's Republic of China, or other laws, they can advise relevant institutions to conduct a review, according to the law.

The regulation stipulates people's governments, at and above the county level, and relevant departments should promote digitization of work on the protection of women's rights and interests, and they should advance comprehensive application of modern information technology in such work.

The regulation states there should be a certain proportion of women among the deputies to people's congresses, at all levels, and the proportion of women deputies should be increased steadily. It states the proportion of women as candidates to be deputies should be at least 30 percent.

The regulation states people's governments, at and above the county level, should adopt measures to help women return to their posts after they give birth. Governments should provide subsidies to unemployed women who attend skills training within two years after childbirth.

The regulation also states governments (at all levels), relevant departments, judicial bodies and people's organizations should include family dispute prevention and mediation in their work mechanisms. Social forces are encouraged to play their roles in protecting women's legal rights in marriage and family.
