Project Helps Spring Bud Girls Realize Science Dream

 2025-04-15

Project Helps Spring Bud Girls Realize Science Dream

Two public-welfare activities, under the Spring Bud — Aerospace Dream Project, were held recently in Jiangsu and Yunnan provinces. The project was launched in 2022 by China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Ltd. (CASIC), to improve Spring Bud girls' education, health and science literacy.

One event was held in Suzhou, a city in East China's Jiangsu Province, during a women scientists' exchange event. During the activity, some Spring Bud girls (from in-need families) from Dongchuan District, in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan Province, and Xiangcheng District, in Suzhou, listened to reports by scientists from CASIC and the Aerospace Women's Science and Technology Innovation Laboratory, under CASIC.

Three of the scientists donated money to the Spring Bud girls for their education, and they became "caring mothers" to some of the girls, to whom they will continue to provide paired-up assistance.

During the other activity, held in a middle school in Qujing, a city in Yunnan Province, some "caring mothers," from CASIC, gave science-popularization lectures. Some of the Spring Bud girls participated in an aerospace-themed-knowledge contest.

During the past three years, 36 Spring Bud — Aerospace Dream girls' growth centers have been established, and more than 200 activities, promoting science education and adolescent and psychological health, have been conducted in the centers. The project has benefited some 100,000 girls and their families.
