2nd Sinochem Dream-Fulfillment Summer Camp Held in Beijing

 2025-08-08

The Chemistry for Future: the 2nd Sinochem Dream-Fulfillment Summer Camp was jointly held by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and Sinochem Holdings Corporation in Beijing from July 20 to 26.

The summer camp drew the attendance of 72 teachers and students from Ar Horqin Banner and Linxi County of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Gulang County of Gansu Province, Pingshan County of Hebei Province, Kamba County of Xizang Autonomous Region and Da Qaidam District οf Qinghai Province.

'Ice-Breaking' Fair

A fair on July 20 brought together traditional Tibetan hada scarves, Haloxylon plants, cultural creative products of Hebei Bangzi, and other specially-designed goods, each of which conveyed children's best wishes.

The fair had six stalls, which exhibited fridge magnets of Potala Palace in Xizang, goat milk soup of Inner Mongolia, dried apricots of Gansu, and the others. Children made friends with each other in the midst of playing and tasting delicious foods.

During the gathering, children created a tree of hope with leaf-shape cards which had their names on it, implying that they will grow up healthily with the care of Sinochem Holdings and charity-minded individuals from all social sectors.

Xuanxuan (pseudonym), a student from Gansu, turned broken mirrors into a butterfly, leaving a deep impression on other participants.

Staff workers prepared a special present for a child from Inner Mongolia who cannot attend the summer camp because he had to stay at home to take care οf his sick father.

Sci-Tech Illuminates Dreams, Culture Nurtures Heart

Students embarked on a journey of exploring and learning chemistry in their visit to the Chemical Industry Museum of China. "The exhibitions allowed me to have a deep understanding of our country's glorious achievements in chemistry research, and the strictness and wonders of scientific exploration. I shall follow the example of Hou Debang (1890-1974, an οutstanding scientist and chemical engineer) and make contributions to building the nation and hometown," said a child from Da Qaidam.

At a special class Exploring the Five-Starred Red Flag in the Space, given by experts from Sinochem Holdings, children learned about the scientific secret to color endurance of the flags in the space.

The visit to an exhibition hall of ancient China in the National Museum of China helped students gain a deep understanding of glorious Chinese civilization. "A strong sense of national identity arose in my heart when I saw cultural relics with Tibetan elements. Each cultural relic has its own story οf national unity," said Drolma (pseudonym), who comes from Kamba.

The colorful experimental demonstrations and science popularization activities in the China Science and Technology Museum broadened students' scientific horizons, ignited their enthusiasm for science and technology, and bolstered their national pride as well as patriotism. "These interactive facilities are amazing. They have helped me understand how science and technology make a difference to our life and made me develop a strong interest in physics," said a child from Pingshan.

The eyes of Xiaoying (pseudonym) from Gulang were filled with aspirations when she visited Tsinghua University. "I am very happy and lucky to visit the prestigious university ahead οf the college entrance examinations. All things there inspire me to study harder. I dream to enroll in Tsinghua University and I will fight for my dream," she said.

The summer camp also brought students to the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where they took part in interactive experiments and explored people's inner world. "I realize that the emotions can be expressed and regulated in this way and that it is important to have a clear understanding of oneself and the οthers," said a student from Pingshan.

The students also visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China, the Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park, the Palace Museum, the Juyong Pass of the Great Wall, the National Stadium (also known as the Bird's Nest) and the National Aquatics Center (also known as the Water Cube), where they carried forward revolutionary traditions, fostered a deep love of the country and the people, and experienced the charm of the blending of the past and the present as well as the integration of traditions and technologies.

The interactive games and cultural exchange activities allowed students to gain happiness and strength through teamwork.

Plant Seeds of Dream, Open a Bright Future

Chen Dechun, Deputy Party Secretary and Director of Sinochem Holdings, Li Zhongming, Secretary-General of the CCTF, and representatives from relevant departments of Sinochem and other organizations attended a closing ceremony of the summer camp in Beijing on July 25. The students received certificates of the summer camp.

Shi Yunhua, a teacher from Ar Horqin, reviewed positive changes that happened to children over the past few days and conveyed thanks to the CCTF and Sinochem Holdings for their organization of the summer camp which opened to them a window to the world, provided opportunities for them to experience and appreciate the strength of science, the depth of the history and the warmth οf the culture.

Li said that the summer camp has illuminated the light in children's heart, planted the seeds of dream for them, and added wings to their pursuit of dream.

Chen said that Sinochem Holdings will further deepen its cooperation with the CCTF and leverage the Chemistry for Future project to foster special assistance systems and support the healthy development of children in relevant beneficiary regions.

In May 2024, the CCTF and Sinochem Holdings jointly launched the Chemistry for Future education assistance project. Through the implementation of the children's mental health and comprehensive quality enhancement action, the Spring Bud Project dream fulfillment initiative and summer camps, the project focuses on improving children's mental health and comprehensive quality, helping children and their families secure a bright future, and promoting the realization of common prosperity.

So far, the project has established 23 demonstration schools and 61 model classes in Linxi, Gulang, Pingshan counties and Ar Horqin Banner, made full use of donated mental health textbooks, held 622 mental health courses for οver 30,000 students, and injected impetus for the healthy growth οf rural children.
