The China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and PepsiCo recently unveiled the "Hope Ignition Initiative" on the basis of the "Rural Empowerment Center" project.
The initiative aimed to take science and technology as a new carrier in promoting public welfare development, help rural teachers, students, women and their families learn about the application of intelligent technologies in the daily life, and advance the balanced development between urban and rural areas in the digital era.
Since its inception in June 2024, the "Rural Empowerment Center" project has focused on enhancing scientific literacy of rural teachers and students and bolstering the development capabilities of rural women and families, promoted the building of "school-family-community" empowerment platforms, and adopted such measures as the upgrading of digital teaching facilities and the organization of science courses, scientific practices and technical training in a drive to expand scientific horizon of rural teachers and students, hone up technical and vocational skills of rural women and their families, and facilitate their entrepreneurship as well as employment.
So far, the public welfare project has sponsored the building of eight empowerment centers in Beijing, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan and Guangdong, benefiting 5,407 students, 509 women teachers and 2,307 other rural residents.
In the years ahead, the initiative will make full use of intelligent robots' strengths in terms of real-time data upgrade, smart search integration and in-depth analysis, provide rural schools and community residents with pragmatic, interactive and sustainable support to their learning, help rural women gain a deep understanding of digital production forces, expand channels of increasing income, stimulate inner development momentum of rural places, and guide rural families to better embrace the opportunities in the digital era.
