Schools across China have promoted the widespread application of AI in education in recent years. AI not only enhances students' classroom-learning experiences, but also serves as a "teaching assistant" for educators, driving innovation in teaching methods. During campus activities, AI-powered smart robots have become a highlight, as they have created a vibrant, technological atmosphere.
Primary School Introduces AI ‘Bear Responder'
Students at Qianjiang Foreign Language Experimental School, in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang Province, use AI "Bear Responders" to answer questions in class. The device converts students' verbal responses into text displayed on screens. This device encourages participation from introverted students, allowing them to speak freely without raising their hands.
AI Robots Support Students' Mental Health
Huangshan Road Primary School, in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui Province, launched a mental health initiative in 2024. The initiative featured psychological assessments, by AI robots, sand-table therapy and educational activities. The school focuses on building a collaborative family-school network, to safeguard students' psychological wellbeing and foster joyful growth.
Studying in a Digital Campus
Students at Shenyang Bocai Middle School, in Northeast China's Liaoning Province, learn in a smart classroom and they take AI-powered English speaking/ listening classes. To implement the national strategy for digital education, Liaoning Province in 2022 released the Implementation Plan for Building Digital Campuses on Primary and Secondary Schools in Liaoning Province. The plan is intended to standardize and promote development of digital campuses across the province, in an effort to narrow regional, urban-rural and inter-school gaps while advancing digital education.
AI Enhances Learning
Students at Rugao Experimental Primary School, in East China's Jiangsu Province, interact with an AI-powered robot. The school integrates AI into daily lessons and outdoor activities. Between classes, robots lead students in tech-infused games.
AI + Physical Education: Smart Playgrounds Enhance Students' Fitness
Students at Zaishuiyifang Primary School, in Qinhuangdao, a city in North China's Hebei Province, exercise with AI-powered smart sports facilities. Smart devices, like intelligent jump ropes, 50-meter testers, smart wristbands, and lung-capacity monitors, enable real-time data tracking, improving safety and efficiency while reducing teachers' workloads.
Kindergarten Welcomes Educational Robot
Zhongke Kindergarten, in Boxing, a county in Binzhou, a city in East China's Shandong Province, is now using an educational robot, capable of interactive dialogue, teaching and emotional intelligence training. The robot engages children through play, stimulating their curiosity and laying the foundation for digital learning.
