A national exchange event for the "STEM Is Her Future 2025" project was recently held in Shanghai to help women college students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) gain a correct understanding of career development and employment, and expand personal horizon.
Six university delegations of STEM students showcased their application of STEM knowledge and techniques in tackling social problems. They underscored the application of AI technology and creative concepts in practical scenarios, which addressed social problems and showed their commitment to the philosophy "technological progress for good."
The design of the AI-assisted cognitive rehabilitation tool for Alzheimer patients earned the highest score among all works for its humanity and technological practicality. In addition, the designs of carbon dioxide reductions and the AI-assisted barrier-free urban navigational system met warm response from the audience for their innovation and wide application scenarios.
Meanwhile, three students shared with attendees about their growth stories, fully conveying their wisdom, potentials and charm. Song Tianxin, who comes from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, talked about her commitment to the original STEM dream. Liang Yilin, who is a student at Guangdong Ocean University, reviewed her participation in public welfare activities and emphasized she had gained lots of happiness and strength in the process. The speeches demonstrated relevant women students' dedication, positive energy and colorful lives.
During the mock interview session, corporate volunteers held in-depth dialogues and rehearsals with attending students in a move to help them enter the job market with self-confidence.
Launched by China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and KPMG China, the "STEM Is Her Future" project aims to further bolster the enthusiasm of women STEM students in their academic studies and making achievements in relevant fields.
