A donation ceremony of eight mobile health clinics under the "Health Express for Mothers" project was held in Le'an County, East China's Jiangxi Province on October 22.
Those medical-service vehicles were contributed by the Foundation of the People's Insurance Company Group of China (PICC) and installed with portal color ultrasound machines, electrocardiographs and maternal-infant monitoring devices to further improve the physical health of local women.
At the donation ceremony, representatives of eight medical institutions received symbolic keys of the vehicles, which were scheduled to head for Aoxi, Daifang, Zengtian, Wanchong, Zhaoxie and other townships to deliver convenient medical services to local women and children.
After the ceremony, a team of medical experts, in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology, respiratory medicine and neurology, from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University provided free medical diagnosis and consultation for local women in Le'an People's Hospital.
Since its establishment in 2003, the "Health Express for Mothers" project has donated about 3,300 mobile health clinics to grassroots public hospitals in regions with limited medical-service resources, provided needy individuals and families with transport, free screening, medical examinations and grassroots doctor training services, and delivered tangible benefits to over 83 million people in 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
Among them, 173 vehicles have been donated to Jiangxi over the past few decades, significantly expanding the coverage of maternal and infant health services and increasing the accessibility of grassroots medical services.
