A delegation of China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) recently conducted an inspection tour over the implementation of such public welfare projects as the "Women Truck Drivers' Home" and the "Water Cellar for Mothers — Green Village" initiatives in two cities of central China's Hubei Province.
During a visit to Huitong Logistics Center in Dongxihu District of Wuhan, the delegation visited a center of the "Women Truck Drivers' Home" program, learned about its operation and talked with representatives of truck drivers.
In March 2022, the first "Women Truck Drivers' Home" was unveiled in Huitong Logistics Center under the support of the CWDF to provide women workers in transport sector with physical and mental health caring, vocational training and parent-child and family relations services.
The inspection tour also brought the delegation to Liangshuihe and Gaoping townships in Danjiangkou, where they learned more about the implementation of the "Water Cellar for Mothers — Green Village" and the "Water Cellar for Mothers — Green Homeland" initiatives. Walking across the farm fields and river banks, they listened to introductions about the substantial progress made by the two charitable programs in further improving the production and daily life of local women and safeguarding ecological environment in the pivotal water source area.
Under the support of the CWDF, Danjiangkou has taken multiple measures and actions involving the upgrading of water-supply facilities, the building of sanitary toilets, the governance of water ecosystem, the organization of volunteers and environmental protection-themed publicity, to reinforce the development of water-saving agriculture, the improvement of rural ecological environment and the livelihoods of the people, and protect ecological security in the water source area of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
