The Women's Digital Skills Enhancement Project, launched by China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) in July 2025, has trained 2,000 women across China, for free. Caterpillar Foundation is sponsoring the project.
The project's purpose is to help women college students, and women who work or plan to work in the manufacturing industry, broaden their development paths and enhance their vocational competitiveness.
The project's first training session contained four modules: Digital power system operation, computer applications, and application of big data and AI (artificial intelligence).
Trainees learned theories and practical skills, and they were taught how to use digital technologies to solve problems in the workplace. Wang Chaonan, one of the trainees, said she has used AI technologies, which she learned during the project, to analyze data and optimize her work procedures.
The trainees obtained vocational-qualification certificates after they passed their final tests. They will receive employment-related guidance during the first year after their training.
The project enables women to participate in the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, and it enables women to contribute to technological development.
