Volunteers Visit Spring Bud Girls in Huize, SW China's Yunnan

 2026-05-28

Ten volunteers visited 30 Spring Bud girls in Huize County of Qujing, a city in southwest China's Yunnan Province, during "Listening to the Sound of Flowers Blossoming" Spring Bud Companion Growth Camp from May 15 to 17. They brought expectations and blessings from 156 charity-minded people to the girls.

When they first met, they greeted each other and made name tags together. During the picture book creation session, the girls used crayons, clay and card boards to depict their stories, passion and dreams.

For instance, a girl said that she doesn't want to be defined by other people's judgments and views. Another girl said that she dreams to be a police officer, doctor or scientist and she will strive for it.

The growth camp placed emphases on listening, understanding and empathy. During the expression of love session, the girls shared with volunteers about how they get along with their family and expressed the emotions that have been hidden for a long time. The girls' delicate feelings and strong hearts impressed the volunteers.

They wrote down their best wishes to family members and friends during the session of creating love-themed photo frames.

Five volunteers were invited to share with the girls about their growth stories. They encouraged the girls to rise up to challenges, chase dreams, remain gratitude and pass on love and kindness to others. A special coming-of-age ceremony was also held for the girls.

After the conclusion of the growth camp, volunteers visited the homes of the girls to learn more about their life and studies.
