The China-Cambodia Friendly Space for Women's Empowerment and Girls' Growth was officially unveiled in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on September 29, 2025. Under the guidance of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the Ministry of Women's Affairs of Cambodia, the space was established by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF), Women's Economic and Entrepreneurship Development Center of Cambodia and China State Construction Engineering Corporation. The space is one of the initiatives of the China-Cambodia Cooperation Project for Girls and Women's Education. Unveiling of the space signaled the first round of exchanges and training, under the project, had been successfully carried out.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing in 1995. To commemorate the occasion, and to celebrate the upcoming Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, the launch of the education project, a "small and beautiful" project aimed at strengthening cooperation on girls and women's education between China and Cambodia, is of great significance. Specifically, the project aims at developing a friendly space where courses in STEM education and vocational-skills training can be provided to women and girls in Cambodia, to help them improve their scientific and digital literacy, and to help them master skills that will allow them to create better lives in the present era. In the space, Cambodian girls study digital-intelligence-empowerment courses, provided by China. A virtual persona, Teacher Lei Lei, provides instruction in 12 core courses — including digital basics, e-commerce practices, cultural integration and women's leadership — in fluent Khmer.
The Ministry of Women's Affairs of Cambodia spoke highly of the project, and an official with the ministry said the project, the first implemented in the Women's Economic and Entrepreneurship Development Center, exemplifies the iron-clad friendship and common vision between China and Cambodia. The official also noted the ministry will continue working to deepen cooperation with ACWF and CCTF, and to develop the project into an international cooperation model for promoting global gender equality and inclusive growth.
